Occidental Petroleum (OXY) Beats Q1 Earnings Estimates

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.65 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.56 per share. This compares to earnings of $1.09 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 16.07%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this oil and gas exploration and production company would post earnings of $0.74 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.74, delivering no surprise.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

Occidental, which belongs to the Zacks Oil and Gas - Integrated - United States industry, posted revenues of $6.01 billion for the quarter ended March 2024, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 9.79%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $7.26 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates two times over the last four quarters.
