A partial U.S. government shutdown after midnight on the East Coast appears unavoidable, as the House of Representatives and Senate have left Washington without providing full funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
Only that department is set to get left high and dry once Saturday starts, but that’s still significant given its arms include the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard.
