Chevron Corporation (Chevron) manages its investments in subsidiaries and affiliates, and provides administrative, financial, management and technology support to the United States and international subsidiaries that engage in integrated energy and chemicals operations. The Company operates through two business segments: Upstream and Downstream. Upstream operations consist primarily of exploring for, developing and producing crude oil and natural gas; liquefaction, transportation and regasification associated with liquefied natural gas; transporting crude oil by international oil export pipelines; processing, transporting, storage and marketing of natural gas, and a gas-to-liquids plant. Downstream operations consist primarily of refining of crude oil into petroleum products; marketing of crude oil and refined products; transporting of crude oil and refined products, and manufacturing and marketing of commodity petrochemicals.

Chevron Corporation is a leading player in the energy industry in the United States and one of its largest representatives in the world. The company was founded in 1879 as the Pacific Coast Oil Company. It received its modern name only in 2005 after a series of acquisitions.

Initially, it produced oil only in the USA, on the Pacific coast, but now it also operates outside the country. Approximately 1/3 of the reserves are located in the USA and 1/5 each in Australia and Kazakhstan. As of 2021, their total proven oil reserves amounted to 11.3 billion barrels (including oil, gas and gas condensate).

In addition to production, the company carries out oil refining. Chevron's own factories are located in the USA (4 refineries) and Thailand. It also has shares in enterprises in Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. In addition, the corporation owns half of one of the largest petrochemical companies in the United States, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.
